In a perfect world, we would have never had a banana seat bike as our first love. Instead, we can all agree that we'd much rather have had a Pinarello. But alas, the favor of timing wasn't on our side as children, but with the Pinarello Speedy Complete Kids' Road Bike, your little one needn't suffer the same cruel fate of first-bike-mediocrity. Instead, Junior will be learning the importance of PRO with a scaled-down version of classic Pinarello engineering. The frame has been constructed from triple-butted tubes of 6061 T6 aluminum. In other words, Pinarello is assuring you that the Speedy will be able to withstand some falls without sacrificing anything in the weight department. In fact, the frame only tips the scales around 1300 grams. Now, we understand that race geometry is important for your little one, but not so much as a proper fit. Not surprisingly, though, Pinarello understands this more than us. That's why it made the Speedy with a 38cm frame and 24-inch wheels. Additionally, the Speedy's componentry has all been scaled down for kids' sizing. This means that the Miche crankarms feature a 145mm length, the MOst stem has been shortened to 90mm, the MOst saddle is short and narrow, and the gearing has been slackened for little legs -- 46/39t Miche chainrings and an 11-26t SRAM cassette. And getting a little deeper into the components, the Speedy rolls on Formula wheels that have been cased in 24-inch Kenda K-191 tires. Cockpit duties are handled by Pinarello's MOst components, with the handlebar featuring a narrow 38cm width. Meanwhile, precise shifting is under the control of Shimano's 2400 groupset, and powerful braking is guaranteed by Promax RC-452 calipers.
