Bottom line: we're not a fan of using adaptors if we don't have to. We'd rather have the right parts instead of resorting to a shim, reducer, etc. That's why we're excited about the super smooth spinning Coated PF30 Shimano Road bottom bracket from CeramicSpeed that installs into a PressFit 30 frame and allows you to run your 24mm Shimano cranks with resorting to and additional adapters. Like all CeramicSpeed products, it's designed to drop the drag over conventional bottom brackets and help you go faster while requiring fewer watts. And while our preferences usually lie with threaded shells, with CeramicSpeed's tight tolerances and alloy cups we're fairly certain this is the next best thing outside of a threaded shell. This particular version enjoys CeramicSpeed balls rolling on hardened-steel races with a 3-micron thick metallic coating making the races harder and smoother which increases durability and further reduces friction. Reducing friction not only saves watts, letting you ride faster with less effort, it helps the component last longer. The Danes at CeramicSpeed are downright obsessive in its quest to reduce friction which is why it offers bottom brackets for almost every crank and bottom bracket standard on the market. And if you loathe friction as much as the crew at CeramicSpeed and want to optimize your bike to go as fast as it can, upgrade your bike with one of its bottom brackets and enjoy reduced friction as well as better resistance to contamination and corrosion. It's so confident in the increased durability of this Coated version that it extends its warranty for a further 2 years over the standard version bringing the total to 6 years. Compared to steel ball bearings, CeramicSpeed's balls resist corrosion, which is in part responsible for why bearings start to feel gritty as they age as well as causing the bearings to run hotter which reduces the lifespan of the component. CeramicSpeed balls are also much harder than standard steel balls. Ap...
